MatteraHuang is excited to present Less is More, our gallery's inaugural exhibition featuring a diverse range of mediums, artists, and perspectives. This exhibition explores the extraordinary power found in ordinary, minimal expressions, evoking vibrant and impactful moments in life. We delve into the memories and emotional qualities that arise from the absence of these moments, examining perspectives through form, color, and medium. The artists showcased in Less is More employ minimalist and abstract styles, exploring the contemporary emphasis on minimal and abstract practices over time. By finding raw emotions in simple forms and employing intricate applications of color, these artworks convey their emotional and formal values through the chosen mediums. Materiality holds great importance in the artistic process, representing its integrity. The exhibition emphasizes the significance of material and its role in each artist's practice. When stripped of context, subject, and creator, material remains, representing the rawest, purest essence of an artist's creativity. Abstract, minimalist, and conceptual practices find their roots in the intentional manipulation of materials. The exhibition is hosted in the third-floor lounge of the luxury residential building 19 Dutch, located in New York City's financial district. MatteraHuang is honored to present the works of talented abstract artists, both established and emerging. The featured artists include Andrew Hildenbrandt, Ashley Bland, Chengtao Yi, David Dixon, Jason Stopa, Jie Shao, Joshua Alford, Shuyao Huang, and Xingze Li. Each artist brings a unique perspective and contributes to the diverse and captivating exhibition.
